Blog 5: Hactivism

So this whole Dorner vs. the LAPD is a very touchy subject, but it will undoubtedly be debated about for a while.  People may have wanted to side with Dorner, but that was long before he murdered innocent people.  Now, at least in his case, it really doesn't matter that the LAPD wronged him because there is no excuse for what he did and his actions will greatly overshadow theirs.  This will; however, attract a lot of attention to the LAPD.  Skepticism from a lot of different people has been directed towards the LAPD.  Dorner claimed they harassed him with racial remarks and an officer assaulted a homeless man.  Now, of course this doesn't mean that the entire police force is in the wrong, but it does seem there is quite a bit of corruption in the LAPD and the judicial system apparently.  The LAPD did not handle Dorner's complaints very well and Dorner really did not handle their decision well either.  Both are in the wrong, with Dorner's actions being monumentally worse than theirs.  Now a lot of the evidence against the LAPD is coming from Dorner himself, so it could potentially be falsified or exaggerated, but hopefully a lot of light will be shed on the whole situation in the coming months or even years.
